(Bac Ha Market)
Bac Ha town is about 80km from downtown Sapa. There are many trees around Bac Ha, and in the spring the countryside is white with blossoms.
Every Sunday, Bac Ha hosts the biggest fair near the mountainous highlands and the Chinese border. It is a trading centre and meeting place for couples, friends and relatives and it is a typical weekly activity for the H'mong and other minority groups living in the locality. Local products for sale or barter are carried on horseback.
At the fair, adventurous gastronomes can try "Thang co" blood porridge, a popular dish of the H'mong and other local people.

( H`mong and Red Dzao hil ):The Hmong, also known as Miao (Chinese: Miáo; Vietnamese: Me.o or Hmông; Thai: (mong) or (maew)), are an Asian ethnic group whose homeland is in the mountainous regions of southern China (especially Guizhou) that cross into northern Southeast Asia (northern Vietnam and Laos). The group is believed to have a history even longer than that of the Han Chinese. The term "Miao" is offensive to some Hmong people. Today, they form the fifth largest of the 56 nationalities officially recognized by the People's Republic of China

(Ta Phin village)
A picturesque thirty minute drive North of Sapa will bring you to the village of Taphin. Set within a valley with a touring peaking mountain at one end, this village is alive with the daily life of the Kinh, Red Dao and Black Hmong people.
The valley floor is layered with rice paddies and dotted with 20 small home communes. Above them are some smaller communes and a patchwork of corn and vegetable fields.
All around Taphin there is an energy generated by the daily life of the locals here. The Red Dao, distinguished by their impressive headdress, and the Black H’mong, in their shiny indigo-dyed clothes have lived here for almost 400 hundred years.
